These terms apply when you create an account and book lessons with Maths Tutor Coventry. Please read them — they explain how booking, payment and cancellations work. If anything isn't clear, email hello@mathstutorcoventry.com.
1. About us
Maths Tutor Coventry is run by Oliver King, trading as Maths Tutor Coventry, 70 Meadow Road, Wolston, Coventry CV8 3JJ. We provide maths tutoring through tutors we work with, and we arrange and take payment for all lessons. These terms are for parents and guardians; tutors agree separate terms with us.
2. Your account
- You must be 18 or over and the parent or guardian (or have their permission) of any child you book for.
- Please keep your details accurate and your password private. You're responsible for bookings made from your account.
- We match each student with a tutor. If you'd like a different tutor, just ask — we can't guarantee a particular tutor will be available.
3. Booking lessons
- Every lesson lasts 1 hour. A 2-hour session counts as two lessons.
- You can book from your tutor's available times, at least 12 hours ahead, and set up weekly lessons.
- Weekly lessons continue until you stop them or the end date you choose. Weeks your tutor is unavailable are skipped.
4. Prices
- The price of each lesson is shown before you book. It's made up of your tutor's hourly rate plus a card processing fee.
- If a tutor's rate goes up, we'll give at least 28 days' notice: lessons that start before then are charged at the old price. Lessons you've already booked keep the price shown when you booked them.
5. Payment
- To book lessons you need to save a UK debit or credit card (or Apple Pay or Google Pay).
- You're only charged after each lesson takes place, once your tutor confirms it in the app. You agree that we may charge your saved card for each lesson in this way, without asking you each time.
- Up to 24 hours before a lesson we may place a temporary hold on your card for the lesson price, to check the payment will go through. The hold becomes the charge when the lesson happens, or is released if it doesn't.
- If a payment fails, we'll let you know and ask you to update your card. We may pause new bookings until it's settled.
- You'll receive a receipt by email for every payment.
6. Cancelling or moving a lesson
- More than 24 hours before the lesson: cancel or reschedule free of charge in the app.
- Within 24 hours of the lesson: the app can't change it. Please contact us directly and we'll do our best to help.
- We don't currently charge for late cancellations or missed lessons. If that changes, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice.
- If your tutor has to cancel, you won't be charged, and you'll be offered a replacement time.
7. Your right to cancel this agreement
You can cancel this agreement within 14 days of creating your account, for any reason, by emailing us. If lessons have already taken place at your request within those 14 days, you'll pay for those lessons only. After that, you can close your account at any time — just cancel any upcoming lessons and let us know.
8. Problems and refunds
- If something wasn't right with a lesson — for example it didn't happen, or was cut short — please tell us as soon as possible, ideally within 48 hours.
- If a lesson you were charged for didn't take place as agreed, we'll refund you in full.
- This doesn't affect your legal rights: lessons must be provided with reasonable care and skill, and as described.
- If you have a problem with a payment, please contact us before disputing it with your bank — it's usually quicker to sort out.
9. Arranging lessons through us
We introduce our tutors to you and arrange all lessons. Please book all lessons with your tutor through Maths Tutor Coventry. If you'd like to arrange lessons with them in another way, please talk to us first.
10. Our responsibility to you
We're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that's a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We're not responsible for losses that aren't foreseeable, or for exam results — we'll always do our best, but outcomes depend on many things. Nothing in these terms limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so.
11. Changes and ending the agreement
- We may update these terms. We'll tell you about important changes in advance, in the app or by email.
- We may suspend or close an account if these terms are seriously broken (for example, repeated unpaid lessons or abusive behaviour). We'll explain why where we can.
12. Contact and law
Questions or complaints: hello@mathstutorcoventry.com. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales, or in your local courts if you live elsewhere in the UK. See how we use your information in our privacy policy.
